The Caprock Roundup is an annual July Celebration held in Claude, Texas. The events include Parade and activities with vendors on the courthouse square, a WRCA Youth Ranch Rodeo, Mutton Bustin', and Chicken Chase. My first visit was in 2023 but I documented only the parade and youth rodeo. I returned in 2024 and tried to document all the events I possibly could.
The Caprock Roundup Youth Ranch Rodeo was sanctioned by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA), and ranch teams competed to qualify for the World Championship Ranch Rodeo.
The final results from the rodeo events below can be found in WRCA Results.

The Claude Chicken Chase was the first time I ever witnessed such action as a public competition. Watching this competition again makes me smile as I reflect back on my own childhood experiences with chickens. But back in my day... the winner would wind up with a chicken dinner. Haha!! This event is always held on the Friday evening of the Caprock Roundup.
The Mutton Bustin' is held on Saturday evening as an opener for the WRCA Youyh Ranch Rodeo.
